Boat Shipping to Germany

With coastlines along the North Sea and Baltic Sea, Germany is a terrific place to own a boat. With that being said, it is often difficult to find the right boat to buy in Germany. As a result, people often buy boats in the U.S. and have them shipped there. This may sound complicated, but with the right help, it's a breeze. Atlantic Pro is here to provide that help. We have more than 15 years of experience in the boat shipping industry, and we understand the finer points of importing boats to Germany.

Boating and Fishing in Germany

Germany is a boating and fishing enthusiast's dream come true. In addition to boasting a vast array of bodies of fresh water, the country has coastlines on the Baltic and North Seas. Dozens of ports are located along its more than 1,400 miles of coastline, including the bustling Port of Hamburg, which is the largest in Germany, the second-largest in Europe and the 11th-largest in the entire world. Cod fishing in the Baltic Sea is very popular, and the waters also teem with herring, hagfish, lamprey and many other species of fish.

Shipping Options

At Atlantic Pro, our goal is to help clients like you identify the best and most affordable options for shipping boats from the U.S. to Germany. We can save you up to 40 percent with ocean container shipping, so that is the best option. However, you can only use it if your vessel measures less than 28' by 8.6'. Otherwise, it will not fit in the 40' HC containers. In that case, we also offer trailer roll-on and crane shipping as well as flat-rack shipping, which involves building a custom frame with which to secure the vessel during shipping. These options tend to be pricier, but we will get you the best deal possible.

German Import Laws

You must have a fishing license and permit to fish legally in Germany. To acquire them, you must pass a course and an exam. When importing a boat to Germany, you need to provide the commercial invoice. It must include the company and address of the buyer and seller; the place and date of issue; the invoice price; a description of the vessel and the terms of delivery and payment. In some cases, a certificate of origin may be required. You are responsible for paying all taxes, including the standard VAT rate of 19 percent. It may be reduced if the boat is eligible for a discount.

Our Shipping Process

Our shipping process is designed to ensure the safe delivery of your boat from the United States to Germany. We will drain it of fuel and other fluids and then remove and secure components like the bimini top, the battery, the windshield and the T-top. Our team will make sure that you have all of the necessary documents and that they are properly completed. You will appreciate our streamlined and efficient approach to shipping your vessel to Germany.
