What does boat detailing actually include?
Detailing is the cosmetic end: washing, compounding and waxing the hull and topsides, cleaning non-skid, and bringing back colour that has gone chalky in Florida sun. Restoration goes further, into fiberglass repair, upholstery and canvas, and refinishing.
The difference matters when you ask for a price. A detail is measured in hours on a surface. A restoration is measured in what has to be rebuilt first.
How much does boat detailing cost in Sarasota?
Atlantic Pro does not publish a price for this work, and any yard that quotes one before seeing the boat is guessing. Four things move the number: the length of the boat, the condition of the gelcoat, whether the bottom needs stripping before paint, and whether anything underneath needs repair before a finish goes on it.
Call 941-292-1112 and ask for a look at the boat. That is the only way anyone gets a real figure.
What is bottom paint, and how often does it need doing?
Bottom paint is the antifouling coating below the waterline that stops growth taking hold. How often it needs redoing depends on how the boat is kept. A boat that lives in the water year round needs it far more often than one that sits on a trailer between trips.
Atlantic Pro hauls out, strips, preps and repaints on site, which is the part that decides how long the new coat lasts.
Can fiberglass damage be fixed at the same time?
Yes. Fiberglass and collision repair is done in the same shop, so a hull that needs a repair before paint does not have to move. Electronics, rigging, upholstery and canvas are also in house.
That matters most on an older boat, where one job tends to uncover another.
