What is included in a Suzuki repower at Atlantic Pro?
A repower at the Palmetto service center runs in six parts. The shop recommends an engine for the hull, its weight and how the boat is used, removes the old engine or engines, and inspects the transom and mounting area. Then the new Suzuki is installed and rigged, controls, gauges and wiring are replaced as needed, a propeller is chosen and the boat is water tested.
The transom inspection comes before installation. So the state of the mounting area is known before the new engine goes on.
Is Atlantic Pro an authorized Suzuki dealer?
Yes. Atlantic Pro Boat Sales is an authorized Suzuki dealer, and an authorized Mercury and Yamaha dealer as well, at its service center on US-41 in Palmetto. New outboards from all three brands are installed and rigged there. An owner who has not settled on Suzuki yet can ask the shop to help choose a power package for the boat.
Does every boat suit a Suzuki repower?
Not automatically. Suitability depends on the boat: the engine is matched to the hull, the boat’s weight and the way it is used, and the transom and mounting area are inspected as part of the job. How much of the old rigging, controls and wiring has to change also shapes the installation.
The signs listed on Atlantic Pro’s own repower page are repair bills that keep adding up, low compression, high hours or repeated breakdowns, old two-stroke engines, and parts that are hard to find for the current engine.
How do I get a quote for a Suzuki repower?
Call 941-292-1112, or send the boat’s year, make, model and current engines through the quote form on the outboard repower page. The form has a field for the engine brand and horsepower you have in mind, so Suzuki can be named from the start. Other questions can go through the contact page.
No repower price is published. A quote is built around the particular boat and the installation it needs, which is why the boat’s details come first.
Is a repower an alternative to buying another boat?
It can be, when the hull is sound. Atlantic Pro describes the case for a repower as a solid hull with engines that are tired, unreliable or expensive to keep running. Whether that fits a given boat comes down to the hull’s condition and what the owner wants from the new engine.
A boat with fiberglass problems as well can have that work done at the same shop, and the fiberglass and collision repair guide covers what it handles.
